BIOGRAPHY
Dutch contralto Ingeborg Bröcheler started out her carreer as ‘3rd Witch’ in the world premiere of Louis Andriessen’s ‘Theatre of the World’ conducted by Reinbert de Leeuw, stage direction Pierre Audi (co-production Dutch National Opera and Los Angeles Philharmonic). She sung the alto-solo in ‘Before: Present’, a unique collaboration of Amsterdam Dance Event and Dutch National Opera (stage direction: Sjaron Minailo). As a member of the Dutch National Opera talent program, she was talent cover for ‘Polinesso’ in Händels ‘Ariodante’ and part of the ensemble (co-production Dutch National Opera and Festival d’Aix-en-Provence/Richard Jones, Concerto Köln/Andrea Marcon). Under the baton of Kenneth Montgomery she interpreted ‘Bradamante’ in Händels ‘Alcina’, worked with Cristian Curnyn and Manoj Kamps when covering the titel role in Händel’s ‘Giulio Cesare’ at Opera North (Leeds, UK). Ingeborg appeared as ‘Présidente de Tourvel’ in the Vivaldi pastiche ‘Les Liaisons Dangereuses’ (Opera2day, NL) and reappeared as ‘Vicomte de Valmont’ in the Swiss revival of this newly composed Vivaldi/Moretto production (TOBS, CH) with Facundo Agudin. In regie of Theu Boermans, she was Third Lady (Dritte Dame/Derde Amazone) in Mozarts Zauberflöte: the next generation.
As a concert soloist, Ingeborg has performed many works, among which works by Bach (St. Matthew Passion, St. John Passion, Christmas Oratorio, B-minor Mass, various cantatas), Händel (Saul, Messiah), Mozart (Requiem), Rossini (Petite Messe Solennelle, Messa di Gloria), Brahms (Alto Rhapsody), Duruflé (Requiem), Pergolesi (Stabat Mater), Dvorak (Stabat Mater). Recitals include -orchestral- song cycles by Elgar (Sea Pictures), Wagner (Wesendonck-Lieder; revised Henze-orchestration), Mahler (Rückert Lieder) and Britten (A Charm of Lullabies). She performed ‘Sechs Monologe aus Jedermann’ by Frank Martin, in a staged version by Klaus Bertisch. She sang in concert halls like Château de Versailles (Versailles, FR), BOZAR (Bruxelles, BE), Concertgebouw (Amsterdam, NL), Walt Disney Concert Hall (Los Angeles, USA) and, among others, worked with orchestras like the Netherlands Bach Society/Shunske Sato, Los Angeles Philharmonic, ASKO|Schönberg, Orchestre National du Lille/Jan Willem de Vriend, Ludwig Orchestra.
Future engagements: title role in Händels ‘Giulio Cesare’ (Blackwater Valley Opera Festival, IR) with the Irish Baroque Orchestra conducted by Nicolas McGegan, stage direction Tom Creed.
Ingeborg holds degrees in Criminology (BA) as well as Public Administation (MSc).
