BIOGRAPHY
Dutch alto Ingeborg Bröcheler graduated in ‘public administration’ and in ‘criminology’ at Free University Amsterdam, and studied at the Amsterdam School of Arts, before she moved into the world of opera. She got her musical education at Schumann Academy. She studied with Paula de Wit and participated in masterclasses- and courses by Rosemary Joshua, Margreeth Honig, Claron McFadden, Dale Duesing and Sarah Connolly. At the moment she is working with Elène Golgevit in Paris.
Ingeborg appeared as ‘3rd Witch’ in the world premiere of Louis Andriessen’s ‘Theatre of the World’ conducted by Reinbert de Leeuw, stage direction Pierre Audi (co-production Dutch National Opera and Los Angeles Philharmonic). She sung the alto-solo in ‘Before: Present’, a unique collaboration of Amsterdam Dance Event and Dutch National Opera (stage direction: Sjaron Minailo). As a member of the Dutch National Opera talent program, she was talent cover for ‘Polinesso’ in Händels ‘Ariodante’ and part of the ensemble (co-production Dutch National Opera and Festival d’Aix-en-Provence/Richard Jones, Concerto Köln/Andrea Marcon). Under the baton of Kenneth Montgomery she interpreted ‘Bradamante’ in Händels ‘Alcina’ (production DNOA). In 2019 she appeared as ‘Présidente de Tourvel’ in the newly composed Vivaldi opera ‘Les Liaisons Dangereuses’ by Opera2day (2nd cast, also vocal cover ‘Vicomte de Valmont’).
As a concert soloist, Ingeborg has performed works by Bach (St. Matthew Passion, St. John Passion, Christmas Oratorio, B-minor Mass, various cantatas), Händel (Saul, Messiah), Haydn (Missa in Angustiis), Mozart (Requiem, Vesperae), Rossini (Petite Messe Solennelle, Messa di Gloria), Brahms (Alto Rhapsody), Duruflé (Requiem), Fux (Kaiserrequiem), Pergolesi (Stabat Mater) and Vivaldi (Gloria). Recent recitals include song cycles by Schumann (Frauenliebe und Leben), Elgar (Sea Pictures), Wagner (Wesendonck-Lieder; revised Henze-orchestration) and Britten (A Charm of Lullabies). She sung ‘Sechs Monologe aus Jedermann’ by Frank Martin, staged by Klaus Bertisch. She sang in concert halls like Château de Versailles (Versailles, FR), BOZAR (Bruxelles, BE), Concertgebouw (Amsterdam, NL), Walt Disney Concert Hall (Los Angeles, USA) and, among others, worked with orchestras as Netherlands Bach Society, Los Angeles Philharmonic and ASKO|Schönberg.
Future engagements are title role in Händels ‘Giulio Cesare’ (production Opera North, cover Giulio Cesare, Leeds & Newcastle, UK) under the baton of Christian Curnyn and Manoj Kamps, stage direction Tim Albery; alto solo in the Requiem Mozart with Jan Willem de Vriend and the Orchestre National de Lille (Lille, FR); Vicomte de Valmont in Vivaldi/Moretto ‘Dangerous Liaisons’ (production Opera2day and TOBS) under the baton of Facundo Agudin, stage direction Serge van Veggel (Biel/Solothurn a.o., CH).
